What Masaru means is that we're from a different, parallel version of a reality with a Digital World.

Masaru, Yoshino, Captain Commander Satsuma... Kurata's Bio-Hybrids... and various other people from our world are from different versions of our reality...

This world's Yggdrasil is, apparently, something of a prick. What a shock, I know.

Also, there were versions of US here before, too...

This DATS got split up into Divisions so we could keep an eye on more crap goin' on in this world. I'm in charge of the Heavy Squadron.
