[Haku's voice is strained. She's been crying, and while there's still a hint of anger in her voice she sounds more regretful anymore.]

If Honne Dell comes around the Hyperion... don't let him in. In fact... DATS needs to be contacted if he's seen...

He was the one responsible for Yagami Taichi going to the third level of his demon seal. He did it for Teto-chan. He... betrayed his family. He betrayed a lot of people.

I don't want him around my daughter. I don't want him around my husband. I don't want him around my brothers, my sisters...

I don't--

I don't want to do this to him, but he's left me with no choice...

[she goes silent, and there's another minute or so of feed before it clicks off]

[A short time later he arrives, knocking on the door before he enters. He's brought some cookies from the tea shop.]

Haku? I'm here.

[Haku isn't in the living room, but the door to her bedroom is open.]

I'm in here...

[Sam enters and closes the door, heading over to Haku's bedroom.]

I bring sweets and comfort mixed together. They call em cookies.

[Grin, grin. C'mon Haku. He knows things are bad, he knows that. It's just that laughing and smiling is therapeutic!]

[She's been crying, that much is obvious, but when he enters she does smile and it's not really all that forced. She needs good company and a laugh right now and she knows it. She does wish it was her husband, but she's not about to call him home from work for something like this.]

[she sniffles and rubs at her face, standing up to take the cookies.]

Sorry you have to see me like this...

[Sam liked Haku. Good friend, took care of his son. He owed it to her to do things like this and he'd do it even if she weren't hurting. He did say they needed to hang out more.

He handed her the cookies brandishing his trademark smile.]

Hey, Haku. What're friends for anyway?

I'll tell ya. They're for making you gain a few extra pounds during times like these.

[Haku laughs quietly, looking at the cookies.]

I guess it's too bad I don't have that problem, isn't it?

I could come up with some kinda metaphor but hey, yehknow what? It still means about the same thing.

Maybe your heart will grow three sizes just to accommodate for the affectionate ....stuff..things... behind the gesture? Alright I think it's breaking down at this point. [He never was that great at being poetic!]

[Well she's laughing more at least?]

N-no, it's okay, I understand.

I heard you and Duo were talking about you teaching him guitar?

Hm? Oh, yes. He was interested in bass actually, but I figured with no real musical background aside from being related to you, he should start with acoustic and we can move from there.

I kinda... [He laughs.] I've been kinda subtly planting the seeds, I suspect.

I've mentioned it to him at least once.

Scary thought, having a two man band with my son. Gonna have to come up with a better name though, and no surprise, neither of us are all that good at naming things.

Oh, I'm sure you have! It's a good seed to plant.

[Which reminds her of something Quatre said recently.]

Ah... I can come back to that in a minute, but I was talking with Quatre recently and he brought up that he'd been trying to get Duo to attend classes at Neon University with him... but he wasn't having any luck.

[This is a 'think you can help?' look, Sam.]

I expect to have him on the stairway to heaven soon enough, Haku. [He smiles mischievously, wondering if she can play that herself. But then with her singing ability? She could probably do anything. She was designed for it after all!]

The university? [He smiled a bit ant nodded.] Sounds like a good idea t'me.

[Have a wink. He'll help!]

So you'll talk to him about it?

[This is good. She knows Duo likes working at the shop, but she's seen him on slow days and that much boredom can't be good for a mind like his. He's sharp and he could stand to be at a place that will let him realize that.]

It'll train me for when I have to talk to him about it back home. [Because somehow, someway, he was gonna survive or... Be there for him. Some how.]

[Haku knows that by the time Duo is 16 at least he hasn't located Sam and Sam hasn't located him but she quietly hopes that some time in their futures they do meet again. Duo deserves to have that, if they ever get home.]

I'm glad. I think it would be good for him. Quatre does too.

Education is good for everyone, and if I didn't say something Brooke would have my head for it.

Wonder what he'd end up studying? [Hmmmm.]

I guess he'll have to decide that later, if he does listen.

[Haku smiles and goes to sit on the bed, motioning for Sam to sit next to her]

So what's this about a two person band?

Hm. I have a feeling he will. He's got the skill and the brains, even if he doesn't want to admit it.

[His mother's brain, to be exact. His mother's brains and his father's motor skills.]

Weeeell... I was joking then, but when we were sick I told him we should start a band if we made it out of the apocalypse alive. Just for fun.

Still need a drummer. We'd need to find a good sound too.

He is smarter than he gives himself credit for, that much is true.

Oh, I see... that explains the sudden interest in guitar. Hmn... I'm not sure about sound. I've only really started learning about American music since I've been here. But... I do know a few people who can play drums.
