I have a question, digital world. One that I'm quiet interested in hearing what you all believe the answer is. The subject you ask?
Empires.
What is it that makes an Empire and what separates the poor from the great? What are the components to a truly great Empire?
Furthermore, what is it that allows an Empire to stand the test of time? What could be done to erect an empire that would stand for thousands of years, if not an eternity?
I await your answers.

What makes an empire is its people. No ruler, no matter how great, can singlehandedly make a complete system work. They rely on those below him, layer after layer, from the lowliest farmhand to the most brilliant advisors.
Good people and good organization of them is what makes an empire that can last.

So then, how does one obtain that trust and order?

If it's one that's merely going to grind its people beneath its heel, to only increase the power or prestige of its leaders, it's one only asking to be doomed from the start.

It's a simple as that.
Words like "unification" are things that people come along with and twist to their own ideals.

Even Alexander the great has his trouble and he conquered quite a bit of land. Only problem is that while he crushed his opponents with brilliant military strategies, post war he didn't do much to rebuild the infrastructure he destroyed, so his empire collapsed eventually.
Tch. Actually? Might as well just start a media conglomerate along with a business enterprise. Rule as a faceless corporation.
Either way I doubt a thousand year empire'll work in this day an age, and I was joking just then.

It depends, because if you start an empire in a world where people know and value their freedom and you pose as a threat, and you don't match their military strength then you're screwed. If you overpower them, they're screwed but you're gonna get a rebellion.
So in a modern world you're almost better off hiding behind a company that provides a necessary service to the people, become indispensable while at the same time pulling the money and power under your control. There's something sinister about not knowing the face of your rulers.
Course now I''m curious. What brought this up?

Enough resources to thrive and grow.
Strong traditions to help the culture flourish.
These are just a few of the many things required.

[if it were possible to hear someone rolling their eyes, you'd hear Kouki doing it right now, and his tone at that last part was sarcastic]
