[Some one is very busy in the big Hyperion kitchen today. There's a radio playing in the background, a lot of stuff already made and even more started and cooking. It all looks very delicious, and if smells could come through the D-Comm it would be guaranteed people's mouths would be watering.

The one responsible for all of it is at the sink in an apron and casual clothes, back to his D-Comm as he runs water over something and his tail swishing back and forth in time with the music.

His partner climbs up on to the island counter where the finished food is laid out, picking up something with her claws and giving it a sniff before nibbling on it.]

Mmm... what's all this, Rin?

Hm?

[Rin perks up, looking over his shoulder with a proud grin.]

Oh, Watanuki-san wants the bakery to participate in the food festival on Tetha, so he put me in charge of figuring out other food to serve!

[He's obviously pleased with this development. Watanuki was pretty uncertain about him at first, but Rin proved himself through his cooking. It's the first job he's managed to keep longer than a couple of weeks, and getting that kind of responsibility has obviously improved his demeanor.

Ty seems to take notice of this.]

He's giving you a lot of responsibility for being so new. [she smiles] I'm really proud of you.

Heheh... [Rin grins with that, rubbing the back of his neck] Well... he thinks I've got potential. That's good, right?

Of course! I-- ... Rin I think something is burning.

[Sure enough, there's a bit of smoke curling above Rin's head. He looks up at it, then over at the oven off screen.]

Crap--!

[he bolts away, and there's a bit of clanking and noise before the feed shuts off finally.]

I'M NOT A CAT YOU WEIRDO! STOP CALLIN' ME THAT!

Okay, okay, you're not a cat, even if you smell kinda like one. A cat wouldn't let his food burn in the oven like yours is now.

[It's a lie, of course, but with that attempt at a distraction Apollo will make a lunge for the yakitori.]

Ha, nice try. I'd know if somethin' was burnin'.

[Really, Apollo? The 'your stuff is burning' trick doesn't work on some one like him.

Rin grins wickedly, and as soon as Apollo tries to go for the yakitori again Rin grabs his wrist.]

Ask. Ask nicely and I'll give you whatever the hell you want.

[Apollo should probably have known that that wouldn't work, since he's not the only one who would be able to smell burning food, but he was too focused on beating Rin at this little game to think of that.

When Rin grabs his wrist he immediately tries to pull away. He's a lot stronger than he looks.]

Let go!

[If Rin doesn't immediately release him he'll go in and bite down on Rin's forearm.]

[Rin doesn't let go, and he's a lot stronger than he looks too. As soon as Apollo tries to yank away, Rin is dragging him back across the counter.

And the biting? Does not phase him. He's been chewed on by other demons before.

This is going to turn in to a nasty game of tug of war here.]

Either apologize, ask nicely, or get the hell out of this kitchen.

[Oh it is. Rin's trying to restrain a wild animal and Apollo isn't about to sink so low as to apologize or ask permission. This can only go downhill from here.]

Then let go!

[Rin will notice Apollo's strength increase suddenly, right before Apollo swings a fist at Rin's face with his free hand. If he's paying very close attention, he might notice the faintest of red auras beginning to form around Apollo.]

RIN!

[Rin just baaaaaarely dodges the punch and lets go of Apollo, but he's pissed now. His flames erupt around him, and he seems to not even care that Apollo has randomly gotten stronger.

Really, it happens with other demons so much it's kind of the status quo around Rin at this point in his life.]

Get. OUT!

[Apollo jumps back when the flames appear, a faint red aura visible around him now. He had been mostly willing to leave with his tail tucked between his legs (and come back later when Rin finished whatever he was currently cooking), but then Rin just had to order him out. That wasn't gonna slide.]

Make me.

[Red Digi-Soul bursts from his back and streams into the air. For an instant it forms a pair of angelic wings, then they dissolve into feathers that quickly vanish, leaving only what look like torn stumps where wings once were, the remaining Digi-Soul gathering around Apollo's body, obscuring the visible part of his aura.

He charges forward with a primal yell, Digi-Soul gathering around his fist as he swings.]

... aw shit.

[That... was not how Rin wanted things to go. And it's too late to stop now. Even Ty is hiding her face behind her paws now, knowing she should probably go find Yukio not not sure if she can actually make it out of the kitchen without getting caught in the middle.

Rin plants his feet and takes as strong of a stance as he can, anticipating Apollo's punch. He manages to catch the fist in his hand, but there's still enough force behind it that it sends him skidding back along the linoleum floor.

He yanks Apollo in close with the hand he's holding, and does something rather unexpected - he head butts him. Hard.]

[Apollo's Digi-Soul and general hard-headedness makes the damage minimal. Apollo responds with a Digi-Soul-covered steel-toed boot aimed straight between Rin's legs.]

[Welp. Rin wasn't expecting either of those. A bit of blood trickles down from his forehead, but it's barely noticed as the wonderful between the legs kick lands exactly where it was meant to.

He can't even muster a groan of pain. He just buckles and drops to the ground, flames going out.]

[Apollo looks down at the fallen Rin in surprise, unaware of exactly how much stronger Digi-Soul made that kick.]

That's it?

[He shrugs and his Digi-Soul fades away, the stumps on his back going last and dissolving into rapidly vanishing feathers as they go. The red glow surrounding him is gone now too. He steps over Rin, scoops up the rest of the yakitori in his arms, and heads for the door with one in his mouth.]

These are pretty good.

[Pretty damn strong, Apollo. Prety damn strong.

He's just going to lay there, hands between his legs as he rolls around. Ty looks down at him and sighs.]

I'll go get Yukio...

[Yukio comes in a few minutes later with an ice pack and a first aid kit. He moves down to his knees beside his brother and touches his shoulder.]

Nii-san, are you alright?

[Rin rolls over, a sound escaping that's a bit like a groan, but almost as if he was doing it earlier and no noise was coming out until now.]

--nnnnnn...

[he can't even speak he's in that much pain.]

I brought you ice, here. Move your hands.

Gonna... be sick...

Ty, grab a bucket and fast. He's going to need it.

[Ty nods and gets one from under the sink. Rin manages to sit up, and promptly loses his lunch in the bucket.

Sorry, Yukio.]

[Yukio just rubs his brother's back as he vomits inside the bucket. Being a doctor in training and seeing everything he's seen, vomit is no big deal.]

Th-that was... stupid... of me...

He... did kind of provoke you...

Ty told me what happened along the way. Relax Nii-san. It wasn't your fault.

Nng...

[just... gonna hurk again, and then try to get up even though he's barely able to stand]

Gotta... finish cookin'...

No. [Yukio takes his brother's shoulders and makes him lay down. He takes the ice pack and places it between Rin's legs.]

Rest for a bit. You can finish cooking once the pain ebbs.

Nn--...

[he gives up, just laying there and staring at the ceiling.]

Figures this is the one injury we can't heal from right away...

Would you like me to put away the food, Rin?
