Your games were built more around smaller, personalized explosions.

In my games, I couldn't go two hours without having a castle blown up. After a while, the fireworks, the explosions, they became rather cathartic.

Make a good show of it. Sell tickets, set up concessions stands, make your subjects pay out the nose for something you're gonna do anyway.

Being a good leader means making your people happy to pay for things they could get for free. Heh heh heh.
